A Farm Kid at Heart

Growing up on a dairy farm has become a rare thing.   Physical labor, caring for animals, days in the open air, repairing equipment, learning to finish jobs rather than put in hours, sitting under a shade tree, watching the seasons pass, and more such things leave an indelible stamp on a person.

The love of rural areas, respect for anyone willing to work hard, to show integrity, willingness to help a neighbor in need, and a sense of one's place in the universe was a normal part of life.

A Lover of Books and Reading

Growing up in a home surrounded by books is becoming a rare thing.  Learning from people who walked centuries and millennia ago in places never again to be walked.  Seeing the world through other people's eyes.  Holding in one's hands the knowledge and wisdom of masters of various crafts and skills.  Reading dreams and fantasies of raconteurs who weave ideas.  

One drinks and eats of the words and ideas and becomes permanently changed.
