Principles of Prolific Learning

Few of us use prolific learning principles. We were not taught them. We were taught how to pass tests, get accreditation, and do what we were told to do. We were not shown how to become successful lifelong prolific learners.

At different stages of progress, different methods work best.

You must adapt and choose what works best.

Work with your brain.

Do not fight your brain.

Consistent Progress

Time and effort will give consistent satisfying progress.

Don’t measure progress by arbitrary tests and standards.

Develop Skills

Develop actual skills you can enjoy using.

Don’t just learn about things. Do things!

You are Unique

You have unique strengths, experience, passions, and goals.

Your learning must be adapted to fit you.

Holistic Learning

Learn new things within their context.

Learn details within the big picture.

Pick Good Methods

Every method gives some type of results. Some are good and some are not.

Choose methods that give the results that you want.

Positive Attitudes

You need to enjoy what you are doing.

Stress and frustration hinder learning.
